Cut down big tree by garage  (09/2005)

The big tree to the right of the garage needs to go. It's in the way of the basketball hoop, clogs up the rain gutters and makes mold on the shingles and brick. So let's cut er down!

My buddy Brian helps. A few beers and a chainsaw are a good combination for sure.

Nothing like a powerful tool in hand that could cut you leg clean off with one slip.

Things are going good so far, no blood yet.

Teamwork is the name of the game.

The details are the hardest part, all the raking and picking up sticks takes a lot of time.

But driving the ATV around makes it fun.

Now for the fun part. This stump can't stay so I decided to chop it out by hand because I didn't want to pay someone to do it for my. I view this as a challenge. Mind you, this is a LARGE stump. I took a couple hours and many blisters to get this far.

Secretly I wanted to do this myself so I had an excuse to use the 4-wheel-drive, heavy chains and some testosterone.

This sucker was really in there. Pulling and pulling was not getting me anywhere. This stump barely rocked.

But eventually I chopped enough roots and it came. The straw that broke the camels back kind of thing.

And here's the big hole in the ground afterward. What fun, thanks for coming.
